Why this exists

Last updated 8 August 2026

RuleRadar was built by a supplement retailer, for supplement retailers. We run more than twenty online shops across three countries, and we built this because we needed it ourselves.

The problem we had

EU health claim law is unforgiving in an unhelpful way. A sentence that reads as ordinary marketing copy can be prohibited, while the version that is allowed sounds stilted and specific. The authorised wording exists in a register, but the register is long, it changes, and nothing in a normal working day tells you which of your thousands of product texts crossed a line.

Some of the traps are not obvious even to people who take this seriously. Collagen has no authorised health claims at all. Neither does caffeine. Several popular botanicals sit on a list that has been pending for over a decade. And a handful of ingredients that sell well may not lawfully be sold in the EU as food at all.

What we looked for and did not find

Legal review of a full catalogue costs more than most independent shops can justify, and it is a snapshot: correct the day it is delivered, out of date the next time the rules move. The tools we found were built for large manufacturers, priced accordingly, and did not speak Swedish.

What we built instead

A scanner that runs in seconds, explains every finding in plain language, and shows the rule it rests on so you can check us. Free, no account, no sales call. Full rule coverage in Swedish and English today; the rest of the EU languages get the EU-wide checks now and their own reviewed rule patterns as demand shows us where to build next.

We run our own catalogues through it. That is the honest reason to trust it more than a tool built by people who have never had to write a product page: when it is wrong, it is wrong for us first.

Who is behind it

RuleRadar is developed and operated by Holm IT AB in Sweden. Questions, corrections and disagreements about a finding are all welcome. If you think the scanner got something wrong, tell us — that is how the rule data gets better.
